Senior Portraits - Abbey Part 2 (Brookings, SD)

It's a bit obvious from this post that I'm behind in blogging. Abbey's second Senior Portrait Session took place in the warmth of September, but this post will help you to feel the beautiful sunshine even on a freezing day like the one outside right now!

Abbey wanted a vintage theme for her second session and with much thanks to Duane S. for the use of his vintage 1953 Ford F-250 Truck, I was able to accommodate! We drove quite a ways into the country for this perfect location and while we didn't have quite as many clouds as we hoped for, we were still able to capture some fun images for Abbey!

Brookings, South Dakota - Moments to Cherish Bridal Show - Wedding Photographer

Yet another great show at the Moments to Cherish Bridal Show in Brookings, South Dakota on February 8th. I was happy to reconnect with past favourite vendors such as Pic-Nook Photo Booth & Bus and Judy Miller from Isagenix! I was just as thrilled to meet a few new vendors like Mary from Keepsake Productions, and Zach and Kristi from SieffStyle Entertainment. The best part was, of course, getting to meet with all of the amazing brides and couples! I offered some fun scratch-off tickets to win prizes and showed off some great new products and images. I Believe in Photography - An Important Reminder for the Digital Era

I believe in photography – but more than that I believe in photographs. Printed photographs are tangible. We can hold them, gift them, pass them around, frame them and hang them on our wall. We can make albums to be treasured, to be handed on to future generations as heirlooms. I am, without a doubt, passionate about creating photographs – real pictures – printed on professional papers – and made into beautiful works of art. I want your children, their children, and all our future generations looking at, holding onto, and cherishing these tangible memories.

I believe the best way to provide exceptional service to you is to present you with beautiful, professionally finished work. Handing you a disc and sending you on your way is not a representation of your memories, your emotions, or your dreams.

I believe in professional printing by professional labs. The photographs we create are not only precious to you; they are precious to me. It is my work, my name, my lifetime of experience and education that deserves to be printed. Can you imagine a floppy disk replacing the heirloom photograph of your grandparents? It's the same as a DVD of your own portraits. We can’t touch those digital file and the truth is that we don’t really know the longevity of a file or if we will even be able to find it again someday. A digital file is a bit of a mystery – if it gets lost, where does it go? If a drive is damaged what happens to the file? How many people truly back up all of their images to a safe and secure off-site location? How many people ever actually print their digital files? When was the last time you printed your own pictures? How many pictures do you have on your computer or a memory card or disk that are still not printed?

I believe not all labs are created equal. Quality printing is not something that the corner drug store offers. Professional labs have strict quality control over colour calibration, cropping guidelines, paper density, exposure levels, mounting standards, ink clarity, print longevity, and bleed control; all of which are important for your final product.

I understand that this is a digital age and you want to share your images through social media and view them on portable devices. For this reason, I offer online galleries and mobile apps with device-optimized images for you to share on Facebook and Instagram, through email, on your phone and tablet, or yes: even in person.

Business Portraits - Brian (Minneapolis, MN)

I was thrilled to travel to Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota where I was able to photograph the business portraits for Brian's professional website, soon to be released. Brian is a talented web developer for a Twin Cities business who is doing business on a global scale. During my visit, I was able to capture not only Brian's non-traditional head-shots but also spend a little time capturing the city sky-line. It was a dazzling and rare site for someone from Brookings, South Dakota, so I made the most of my time. The stars hung in the air despite the cold weather and low-laying clouds and offered me a glimpse that I was honored to capture.

Senior Portraits - Abbey Part 1 (Brookings, SD)

Abbey is a very bright, young woman! She is a Brookings, South Dakota, Class of 2015 Senior who spends much of her time in competitive cheerleading and competitive dance. She also volunteers at her church and is planning on going to college to fulfill her childhood dream of becoming a Pediatrician.

Abbey and her mom braved a half-mile walk in knee-deep snow in order to meet me at this beautiful birch forest for part one of her Senior Portraits. Abbey brought along amazing outfits - including her prom dress - and she completely rocked her winter session! The evening sun provided beautiful back-light just before it sunk behind the trees.

Brookings, South Dakota - Bridal Show - Wedding Photographer

Another successful and wonderful time at the Moments to Cherish Bridal Show in Brookings, South Dakota.
